Rory Sacree

Hi I’m Rory, “The Sac” to my friends ! I am a keen waterman and love being on or in the water when I can. I have been a beach lifeguard since 2001. I have been part of the RNLI’s international training team in West Africa and have worked as a lifeguard as far afield as New Zealand.

My main passion is surfing and surf related activities. I enjoy the bigger days and winter swells on my shortboard but nothing beats SUPing a clean summer swell on a hot sunny day! I do love paddling down a grade five rapid from time to time too!

As the ocean is both my office and my playground I can’t help but be passionate about doing my part in protecting it. I volunteer for Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s Marine Strandings Network and I am also a Marine Mammal Medic for the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR). I am also part of the Plastic Movement which is a group of local people trying to raise awareness about plastic pollution in our oceans. “Love where you live!”

The Craziest thing I’ve ever done Spent 24 hours alone adrift at sea (for Charity).
Favorite Wave i've surfed in the world Soupbowls in Barbados
Favorite place in the whole world Millook valley
Biggest wave I've ever surfed Menacoz North spain
My favourite animal Probably sharks
The thing that scares me the most By 2039 scientists predict there will be more plastic in the oceans than fish!
